The ship Oxford, from London, arrived at Wellington'this morning-. The Napier leaves here for Greyrnouth at noon to-morrow. She is open to take cattle, sheep, or pigs ; and, if inducement offers, her sailing, will be postponed until Wednesday. The last Parisian eccentricities of fashion comprise Anne Boleyn caps, fastened to the hair behind by two gold knitting needles, parasols embroidered inside and large enough to shelter two lovers comfortably, and bonnets of thatched roofs and beehive crowns. The agitation against the Salvation Army in Neuohatel is assuming formidable dimensions, and the peace of the town is seriously threatened. The Salvationists are stoned as they pass through the streets, and a few nights ago the windows of a house in which they |had assembled were broken. Three ladies —Tady Pollock, Miss Sinnott, and Mrs Paidden—have been returned to the new Board of Guardians of the Poor for Clapham, one of London’s districts. More ladies have been elected to other Boards in the metropolis.
