BURNT TO DEATH.
A sad accident occurred on Tuesday last. It appears that a family named Evans live in a house near the top of the Le Bon’s Bay Hill. There is a large family, and amongst them was a little child two years of age. The mother went into the garden on Tuesday evening, leaving this little one in the house. She was only absent a few minutes, but when she returned the clothes of the unfortunate little thing were a mass of flame. All available remedies were applied, and Dr Singleton sent for the following morning, but before he arrived the child was dead. The doctor is of opinion that the case was hopeless from the first, even had medical aid been immediately available, as the trunk of the child was so severely burnt as to render recovery an impossibility. There is no doubt that the deceased went to the fire immediately its mother left the house, and that the flames caught the clothes, Akaroa Mail,
