THE HOSPITAL.

TO THE EDITOR. • Sir,—l see that your paper of the 2nd Inst is pretty vrell full of Hospital correspondence. It is ; not long; since there were a great many thanks given to both ladies and gentlemen for their liberal donations of fish, fowls, beef, mutton and butter, cheese, ham, eggs and bacon, potatoes and flowers, and even the word of God preached there by those charitable people. Where are those kind people now ? Surely they must have left the district, when thero is .a man dying with want and no one here now to assist himBut he is not the only one in Patea that is in want; Well/We mustonly^yr’ bevrith the charitable people that have left us.” But, Sir, that was the time when the Hospital was well provided for. But it was said of old “to him that hath will be given,” and the only bad case we have had here was sent to Wanganui, That was a poor fellow that gotrhis jaw broken, and why not send others 7 : For myself I would willingly give a little to blow that building called an hospital out of sight. It is a disgrace to the Borough and the Government, and to the people of -Patea, both inside and out. If I have to go to an hospital,.send me to where I will have comfort, 'whether I pay. or not.—-Yours, &c,, Patea, July 4. - A Looker .On.
