[per press association.J WELLINGTON, This day. Weather forecast .for 24 hours, from 9 a.m. to-day Wind between southeast and north-east in both Islands. Barometer: Further rise at all stations north of Lyttelton and Hokitika, but falling again within 12 hours at all places from thence southward, and after that time at most stations from Napier and New Plymouth southward to Lyttelton and Hokitika. Sea moderate on , both coasts. Telegrams to expect falling barometer and northerly winds have been sent to places south of Kaikoura and Westport. Synopsis of last 24 hours:—ln all parts of the country the barometer has risen steadily, and there has been a hard southerly gale at most places eastward of a line connecting Lyttelton, Nelson, New Plymouth and East Cape.
