SHORT WEIGHT.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —During the present state of dullness existing in Patea we find that it is a matter of some trouble to earn a living and pay our way ; yet, despite all our efforts to be honest, it is hard to find that our local bakers are having the grin at us, A few days ago one of my country friends took the trouble to weigh some four-pound loaves which had been left at the house during the day. Imagine his surprise when he found that the average weight was 31b 9oz instead of 41b 1 Let me advise all householders to weigh their bread, and see bow far this is correct. I can vouch for the truth of the statement, and therefore have no hesitation in calling attention to it, I intend to have a rap at some of our butchers, milkmen and wood-dealers as soon as I can find a few spare minutes. —Yours, &c,, Radical.
