Morley, of Christchurch, will preach in the Harmonic Hall on Snnday evening. On Monday evening the rev. gentleman will meet members of the Wesleyan Chnrch to explain to them the objects and benefits of the proposed loan fund, Mr Cowern has a couple of sales at his rooms to-morrow, at 2 p.m. Particulars are given in advertisements upon our fourth page. - : ‘ The Waverley had a very rough passage up from Wellington, but she behaved admirably, and proved herself a capital sea boat. Mr Calnan, of Waverley, would, be willing to commence a dancing-class in Patea if sufficient , inducement were offered. At the R.M. Court this morning T. O’Shannessy for riding upon the footpath was fined. 10s and costs 19s. Robert Erskinc for assaulting James Simpson was mulcted in a penalty of 40s and costs, with an alternative of 10 days’ imprisonment. The steamers Napier and Waverley have been detained by the weather and will leave to-morrow morning at six o’clock if the wind moderates. If. they, are unable to go to sea in the morning they will not leave until Snnday. ; The case of George Beamish, t which has been before the Court.for some tinie, came on for hearing at the R.M. Court this morning.. The only evidence takjbn up to one o’clock was that of Mr E. ,C. Horner, Clerk and Treasurer to the Palea County Council, which went ;to show that tenders for collecting ; dog tax had been called by the Council, and that Mr Beamish’s tender had been accepted. The evidence, generally, was the same as that previously adduced.
