Ho they could depend on the support of the Auckland in assisting in getting the line brought via nTaranaki, but they must abide by the decision, of the, Engineers. . If the dine came to/Martbn, it would have to go through about sixty ,miles pf desert- of no use to any r one, .rA -Mr Sutton once drove'a quantity of ■cattle up there, but he did hot bring ?many, of-them back. Mr Gsprgegtated he. would not give one farthing an acre Tor such land ; the:; expense- also;iwould: be nearly double that of the other route. - As’ regards the Million Loan Bill, for this.special work, he considered it'"was all ‘rightj and as soon as tlje- ; House . had, determined onThe route (which;he would not be done next session ),r the, loan; would befloated.'lo:lß7B Mr jMacandrew had an' .amount down for the Northerndiney and That was all Tit but not fine deeds—but no. provision was made for.made for. carrying it out., They ;must expect great opposition from Wanganui and Wellington in the matter.
