FIRE NEAR AUCKLAND.

(PEE PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, This day. A fire at Mount Eden at five o’clock this morning destroyed three two-story shops and dwelling houses and their contents. It originated in the'promises of Thomas’, chemist ; Gardner’s butcher, and Sayer’s, grocer, being the other places destroyed. A cottage occupied by ’Kirkman was injured. Mr Surman, whopwned Thomas’s and Gardiner’s shops, says they were insured for £4OO in the New Zealand office ; Thomas’s stock, furniture, and fixtures were insured for £250, and Kirkman’s furniture;-for £75 in the same office. Sayer’s building.Jstock, and furniture, were insured in the South British for £SOO.
