In the race for Birthday Cup, to-day, the second place was taken by Footstep, Coriolanns and Claptrap running a dead heat for third. Time—Brain. 1 2 ’ SYDNEY, May 26. At the New South Wales Coursing meeting to-day the Leger was won by Humming Bird, Crabtree runner up. The Plumpton Stakes was won 'by Fleetfoot. The meeting passed off very successfully. (Received May 27, 1.50 p.m.) MELBOURNE, May 28. Arrived, P. and O. steamship Rome, with Suez Msiil dated London, April 20. A warrant has has been issued for the arrest of John Black, an employee of the Oriental Bank, who is charged with embezzling one thousand pounds in various sums. The full amount of the deficiencies is believed to be more than £IOOO. Black has not yet been arrested.
