SPIRITUALISM.

TO THE EDITOR. There are more things in Heaven and earth than are dreamed of In our philosophy.— Hamlet. Sir, —The wizard’s entertainment on the 24th was an excellent one, and his cabinet seance, especially, inteieating ; but he did not expose spiritualism in any way. If he had shown the intelligent audience how he released himself from his bondage, then spiritists would have been bamboozled. Professor S.S., and Clara Baldwin, in their unique performances, entitled, “ Spiritualism Exposed,” do some extraordinary things, such as telling anyone what they are thinking about, etc., while Clara is under a trance. At a sitting of the Dunedin Spiritualistic Club held in that city where the usual table rapping business goes on, they declared the Baldwins to be first-rate spirit mediums, and said they did not expose it at all. Mr Wilson, late editor of the Otago Witness , but who has now gone to the spirit land, was a member of this Club. In Masterton, they have a Society, and not a few of thebhief business men of the town attend every Sunday evening, and they declare the revelations to be truly astounding. They also coihmunicate with departed friends. I attended a “ manifestation” in Roslyn, near Dunedin, and was firmly convinced there was no trickery at it. Musical instruments played, walking sticks walked, the tables waltzed, and the chairs were like to upset everybody while under the influence. Could not a S.C. be formed in Patoa?— Yours, &c. Pat ban.
