CAUGHT AT LAST.

It will be remembered that about a year ago a man named Elms, alias Longmore, was arrested in Christchurch charged with being concerned in a number of burglaries which had been committed in that city. Several remands took place, but one morning, while in the prisoners’ waiting room at the R.M, Court, Elms made his escape through a window, and notwithstanding the efforts of the police, nothing more was heard of him, and it was supposed that he had effected his escape to San Francisco. It now appears (hat a man named Sweeny, who was arrested in Sydney on a charge of robbing the Brunswick Bank, is identical with the Christchurch escapee. Longmore was one of the associates of Harry Jackson, lately committed for trial for shooting at Mr Deans at Riccarton.
