The visit of the Under-Secretary was for the purpose of taking . over the Hospital. Butter.and cheese, factories are occupying a large share of attention, just now. Mr Bowron, -.the gentleman engaged by Government, 'met the farmers at Hawera yesterday ; and iri the co.urst of his remarks said that for richness of soil,.yield of milk per cow, and quality of milk, he had seen nothing to equal Taranaki. On the other hand the Auckland people are not asleep, and threaten to secure the removal of the Seat of Government to Christchurch if the .Wellington people don’t mind their own business. 1 -Local; interest in the question is beginning to be aroused, and at Hawera last night a public meeting resolved to solicit the co-operation of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce in: agitating for the main line to come by way: of Mokau. This is a matter in which Patea district is interested, and residents would do well to assist in the coming struggle.
