A. terrible catastrophe occurred at the villiage of Sutton, 13 miles from Beechworth, by which a man named Coupin, his wife/ and fonr children were burnt to death. It appears the man woke up, and found the house in flames. He carried out two children, and rushed back tor his wife and the but all perished. The two dren, who were both under seven, made their way to the house of a neighbour in a frightfully burned condition, and both died soon from the effects of their injuries. SYDNEY, May 16. The celebration of the Congregational Jubilee commenced here to-day, sixty delegates from other colonies being present. The Rev. J. M. Jefferies, the president, delivered an address of welcome, to which the Rev. Mr Daldy and others replied; HOBART, May 16. A meeting of the Marine Board was held to-day to consider the circumstances attending the death of a steerage passenger named McKay on board the steamer Manapouri, and the burial of the body at sea when the vessel was within sight of land. The Board, in their decision, exonerate Captain Logan the Manapouri (Received May 17, 1.15 p.m.) MELBOURNE, May 17. The English mail, via Suez, for New Zealand, which arrived here yesterday by the Ballarat, has been sent to Sydney, where they will be placed on board the Hanroto, which leaves for Welling' ton to-morrow. Notwithstanding the evidence of miners, the Manager of the Ellenborough mine at Eaglehawk will be tried for manslaughter in connection with the death of two men who were crushed by a fall of stone in the mine last month. It is stated that a Bank manager at Eaglehawk has made use of £3OO worth of scrip deposited by customers. The n mie of the manager, however, is withheld. . (Received May 17, 2.15 p.m.) MELBOURNE, May 17. The statement that the Hon. Graham Berry intended to proceed to New Zealand was incorrect. He has undertaken to write fully to the Government regarding (he decision of the Australian colonies to the joint Postal JJnion. Shipping wheat firmer at 5s 2d to 5s 3d; malting barley, 5s lOd to 6s Id, market weaker; New, Zealand oats in fair demand, feeding qualities, duty paid 3s Id to 3s 3d ; ditto, under bond, 2s 5d to 2s 6d ; milling sorts, under bond, 2s 7d to 2s Bd.
