FIRE AT NEW PLYMOUTH.
(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) .. NEW PLYMOUTH, May 5. A six-roomed house at H'-nni, next to Anmtage’s, tannery, and owned by Mr Boswell, was burnt to the ground this morning at 2 o’clock. There was a great tody of flame, the fire burning for an hour. There is evidence that the fire was not accidental, as in the woolsheds ad-= joining some canvas was found soaked with kerosene and the floor as well, the object evidently being to destroy the woolsheds a's well as the house. Mr Boswellj owner of the house, is at present in Wellington." He was about to remove into it, and some of his furniture, including a piano, had been taken into it only yesterday, and his family expected to go into the house to-day. The insurances on Mr Boswell’s house are—£2oo on building in the Standard, and £250 on furniture and piano; on the three woolsheds adjoining and the stock-in-trade of tannery, not burnt, £650 in Standard Office.
