MR FREEMAN B. JACKSON’S FORTNIGHTLY STOCK REPORT. Wednesday, May 2. There is no improvement in rates for cattle since my last report. Female store cattle are not much inquired for, but steers find purchasers at current prices. Sheep of all classes are in demand, and meet a good market. All I have offered during the past fortnight have been sold at fall values. Cattle— At Kakaramea the pens were full—Cows and; calves, £3 os ; cows, £3 ; bullocks, £4 15s. At Manaia 70 head were; yarded—Steers, £4 Is; weanera, 255, At St. Hall-street tb-day 296 head were sold— Fat cows, £5 to £5 os; cows, £2lss ; steers, £2 14s to £3; weanera, £1 10s. Shbep— At Kakaramea 1400 were penned i-Ewes, 7s 6d to 8s 6d; lambs in wool, 6s; shorn lambs, 4s to 4s 6d. At the clearing sale of Mr Young’s 650 ewes made 7s. At the yards to-day 407 made up the sale— Ewes, 7s lid-; wethers, 9s ; lambs in wool, 7s to 7s 9d. Hobbes— A large entry came forward, I sold a fair number at low rates. PIGS—A capital lot were penned—Porkers, 17s to 25s ; larger sorts up to 40s. Exports —46 cattle, 989 sheep, 30 pigs.
