LOST AT SEA.
A passenger named Bertram was lost overboard, during the last passage of the Huia from Wellington to WanJganni. The' occurrence took place oh Wednesday night, yrhen :the: steamer was three or ;fonr . miles north of Tcrawhiti. It was very dark at the time; and 1 there was a heavy sea on, .The vessel gave a lurch, and Bertram appears to have. tpmbled backwards over the' rail .to which he clung for a moment, but not long enough to enable the steward and the look out man, who were quite close, to reach him. It appeared at the inquest yesterday that Bertram had been drinking, and was in a muddled state when he came on board. Deceasedpresided at Halcombe, and was » draper.. He was one of the witnesses in the recent collision case off Wanganui bar. " p
