INQUEST ON THE LATE MR. D. SCOTT. : ♦— An inquest was held on Thursday, at the Waverley Hotel, before C. A. Wray, Esq., touching the deate of Mr Scott. The following jurymen were sworn : —Messrs Taylor, Leo, Swann, Fookes, Carter, Napier, Hughes, Davis, Bremnei, Winchcombe, Watson and Rasmussen. Mr Fookes was chosen foreman. Mr Mitchison, of the Waverley Hotel, notified to deceased having been stajung at his hotel for some six weeks. , He had occasional fits. As a rule he was temperate, but occasionally drank several glasses of beer during the day. Never touched spirits. Witness was in Wanganui at the time deceased died. Mrs Mitchison said that Mr Scott was taken ill with what appeared to be fils on the evening of Tuesday. She did not suppose it was serious until informed that he was dead. John Scott, son of deceased, said his father had been temperate of late, but occasionally drank to excess. On the day before his death his father seemed quite hale, and in good spirits.
