THE S.S. WAVERLEY.

The Auckland Star gives some information in reference to the Patea S.S. Company’s new boat, the Waverley. It says : —The Waverley is a fine steamship of about 80 tons net and 120 tons gross measurement, intended for the trade between Patea and. Wellington, She has the appearance of being both a good cargo carrying boat, and a very comfortable craft for passenger traffic. The engines arc expected to give the vessel a velocity of eight or nine knots. Respecting accommodation the arrangements are very good. The forecabin contains twelve sleeping berths, and is a comfortable apartment. The ladies’ cabin is situated amidships, and under the bridge, being twelve feet long by thirteen feet wide It is fitted with ten berths, lockers, lavatory, etc., while the pannelling is of maple and oak; the seats are covered with cushions in crimson and velvet. The saloon is also a nicely fitted up apartment, being something after the same style of decorations as the ladies’ cabin, with accommodation for 18 or 20 persons, and is well-ventilated (like both fore and ladies’ cabin), 7ft 3in in height. On the starboard side, underneath the bridge, are the officer’s rooms, three in number, each fitted up with the usual requisites. The smoking room is immediately over the saloon, and is Bft by Sin x 7ft 3in, The hold is about 34ft x Bft Gin deep, and easy of access. There is a steam winch and donkey engine on deck. Two boats are supplied—one a substantiallybuilt lifeboat fitted with air-tight compartments, and the other a small gig for general use. The Waverley is to be rigged as a fore and aft schooner. . ... ‘
