THE MONEY MARKET. Messrs Chas. Pownall and Co., Scriveners Wellington, report that though the quotation for money for mortgage investment remains unchanged, viz., 7 to S per cent., there is more difficulty in obtaining it now at the lower rate. During the last month a considerable sum, amounting to about £150,000 of outside capital has been placed in this, and the Taranaki provinces, and the supply offering being somewhat more limited ; the market has a slightly hardening tendency. In Australia full prices continue to prevail, and we have only to look therefore to further remittances of English capital to obviate rates being demanded here. GRAIN AND PRODUCE.
