MR FREEMAN R. JACKSON’S FORTNIGHTLY STOCK REPORT. Wednesday, April 18. There has been an increased demand for cattle during the past fortnight, nearly all that offered finding purchasers at current rates. At Waverley the yards were quite full, and all the lots were sold under the hammer. At Hawera prices asked by the vendors were in excess of values, hence some pens were unsold, though the majket value was bid. Steers of all ages are in demand. Sheep have increased in value, and all fat ones meet a ready sale. We may look for a further rise in values. I offer a large lot of good useful sheep on Wednesday next, at noon. Cattle. —At Waverley sale 559 head were yarded —Fat cows L 5 to L5,10s ; cows and calves, L 3 ; cows, L2 16s 6d ; steers and heifers, L2 17s ; yearlings, LI 11a 6d ; weaners, LI 8s to LI 12s. At Hawera 175 head came forward—Fat cows, L 4 15s; steers, L 5; weaners, LI 10s. At St. Hill-street to-day, 171 head came forward—Fat cows, L 5 5s to L 5 15s ; steers, L 3 |l2s 6d to L 4 5s ; cows L2 5s ; weaners, 235.

Sheep. —At Waverley 3116 were penned —Ewes, 9s to lie ; old ewes, 6s ; lambs in wool, 6s lOd to 9s ; shorn lambs, 5s Bd. At - Hawera 1300 were sold —2-tooth wethers, 13s ; shorn lambs, 4s 9d ; store wethers, 10s 6d. At the yards to-day only 353 came in—Fat ewes, 11s 2d ; 2-tooth ewes in lamb, lls 3d ; store ewes, 9s 4d to 9s 9d. No lambs offered. Houses. —About 30 head were offered, the prices ruling at last sale’s values. Pigs.— Fat pigs, 20s to 30s ; porkers, 13s to 14s ; suckers, 6s 2d to 7s. Exports. —25 cattle, 100 sheep, 2 horses.
