The 'total ‘amount 5 pf revenue, was £1,496,948 2s Id being a deficiency of £3051 on the Colonial estimate of £1,500,000. 'The highest amount collected in any one month was in.September last, when it reached £140,089 14s Bd. The lowest, £109,363 .J3s 3d was collected in April,.Xßß2..Tbe beer duty for lastyear was £62,664 6s 6d being a surplus of £2664 6s 6d over the Treasurer’s estimate; and this being deducted from* the deficiency in the Customs revenue, leaves the total deficiency for the year; from this branch of £387 10s 7d, r which is considered most satisfactory. ; • The Customs’ revenue -for the Colony lor last month was £125,116 12s 3d ; the corresponding .pipnth last’, year; was i£ 140,802 Os ' Sd. : ‘ ‘ The "'returns from the principal places were--: ‘Auckland,; 7 " i£2s-,786 r ; Welling!oh,; : £19,452 ; : Lyttelton £10,883 *, Dunedin,' 1 £34,588.
