EGUOMT SAGES. (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) HAWERA, March 26. These races passed off very successfully. The weather was beautifully fine, tbe pianagenient prompt and capable, the
attendance large, and the sports excellent. As a rule the favourites won, but, to the ordinary spectator, the issue generally seemed doubtful till the straight was reached, and there was not a bad race throughout, except the District Handicap, in which Normanby had all his own \vay # The Egmont Handicap was a very good race, but would have been much better if Normanby had been called upon to carry a few more pounds, A protest was entered against, him on behalf of Leonora, on the ground that his entry was informal, as not having contained a record of his performances. The stewards met to consider: tb e matter, and .found that in no case had his performances been submitted to the handicappeiVAherefore the protest was disailovyed.
