A SUCCESSFUL BANK.
; In the race that is going on between the Colonial Banks, the Bank of Australasia is coming to jthe r front with, a dong lead., A London telegram, dated December’ 29, states that the Court- of Directors have announced the issue of new shares to the amount of £400,000, making the paid up capital £1,600,000. This will be the largest paid up capiial of any bank in the colonies. Referring to this the Insurance and Banking Record says: “ The increase of their capital, mainly from English sburces, is the banking policy which will most benefit the bank’s Australian customers. The prosperity of the bank is doubtless? due in no* small degree to good and efficient management, and the directors have recognised the value of their staff officees in a most substantial manner by granting a bonus of ten per cent, on salaries and gratuities. The Superintendent’s circular intimates that the bonus will be paid to officers and supernumerary officers who were in the employment of the Bank on October 10th, 1882, and continued in his service up to March 3rd.
