The total reserve in notes and bullion in the Bank of Engis £13,900,000. The proportion of reserve to liabilities is 42 per cent. New Zealand securities are unchanged. The market for colonial breadstuffs continues weak .—Adelaide wheat ex store has declined to 50s; New Zealand remains at 465, and Adelaide flour at 34s 6d. Australian tallow is dull: at 39s 6d for beef, and '43s for mutton. During the present week the catalogues at the wool' sales have aggregated 42.000 bales, of which 6,000 have been withdrawn. A good demand has been experienced, and prices were firmly maintained, . ; The withdrawals from sale since the opening of the series amount ito 18,000 bales out of a total of 235.000 catalogued. : The second series of auctions commences onr the 16th May, and. is expected to comprise 550.000 bales. (Received March 19, 12.45 p.m.) LONDON, March 18. A determined attack was made upon Lady Florence Dixie last evening at Windsor . by two men disguised as women. They were armed with daggers, but her ladyship escaped without injury, as her assailants made off as soon as she raised tlie alarm. The attack is believed to have been made in consequence of articles which Lady Dixie has; written condemning the Irish outrages. Sheridan, the Irish agitator, who is now in America, has publicly stated that the explosions which have occurred here, are forerunners of others. , (Received March 19,,1 p.m.) LONDON, March 17. MELBOURNE, This day. : All the new Ministers have now been re-elected to Mr Gillies, Minister of Railways, in his speech on Saturday night, stated that of a sum of £2,650,000 allotted from last Loan for Railways, only £550,000; will remain available for the construction of the proposed new lines amounting to 800 miles.
