MANUTAHI.

(FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT.) - Wednesday.

The ftiaoria seem to be burning with impatience to once more behold their adviser and seer. A large party dressed in their holiday' best passed through this place on Friday last, staying only a few minutes in Manutahi. One of them made the remark/ “I go to Paribaka ; I like Parihaka.” A few’ women and children were amongst the party. Most likely the Natives will soon hear some more startling prophecies. Nearly, all the crops are now gathered in, and the local steam thresher is kept working from early till late. It will be some considerable time, however, before all the farmers can have their threshing over.

How before the bad weather sets in, something’Should be done to improve the road. Last winter the road about Manutahi was in a fearful state, as all who travelled this way at that season can testify. It was one succession of deep boles, ruts, and mud, depth unknown and untried, save when some luckless driver got his vehicle .firmly imbedded therein and had to await the arrival of another team before he could be extricated. The pleasures of driving along such a road at a .snail's'pape'at best, are too monotonous, and muddy, to be sufficiently appreciated by the travelling public. But after the opening of the Waverley-Manutahi railroad, which will take place about the middle 6f the winter, the heavy traffic on the previously mentioned piece of road will be enoimously increased. And unless something is done to improve this piece of road before then, it will be rendered simply impassable. A coat of metal now would obviate all this trouble. ;
