.. ■ . MK LIVINGSTOM’S SALE. There was a very large attendance at Mr Livingston’s sale yesterday,- and ; although certain, classes of stock, sold at low rates, taken as a whole the sale was pronounced by one and all very successful, considering the hard times. The sheep fetched remarkably good prices, and there were hardly any bargains offered among the horses. Steers sold fairly well, anclfat bullocks made high figures for the time of year. The auctioneer, while assisting at the mustering, had a severe fall from his horse. He was suffering from the-effects of this fall during the day of the sale, but nevertheless, got through a hard day’s work manfully, and the whole passed off without any hitch. The bargains of the sale were secured by Mr Reid, (of Reid and Stent, I believe), who bought a pen of 48 3-year-old well-bred heifers, with calves at foot, for £3 14s 6d per head; and by Mr Nicholson; who bought 100 2-year-old heifers at .£2 5s '6d, which had been, bought by Mr Livingston, in the spring, for nearly £3 per head. The .-implements fetched .fair prices. Double-furrow ploughs sold at £l4 and £l7 10s, and two Saranelsoii reapers fetched £2l each. Bidding was fairly brisk throughout the day, and buyers generally seemed well content.... A; fortnight’s , free grass, was offered,' and’ another fourteen days could be arranged for. 'were present from Auckland, Wanganui, and Rahgitikei, and it was estimated that fully ,50) persons.were present.' The total proceeds of the sale were nearly £sooo—Star. . MAIL NOTICES.
