MR FREEMAN R. JACKSON’S FORTNIGHTLY STOCK REPORT. Wednesday, February 21. The market since my last has shown a downward tendency. Store cattle aie almost unsaleable, except at low figures. At Waverlcy I did not sell any cattle. At Hawera a l,irge number were cold, at prices in favour of the buyers. I had not a largo entry of cattle at the yards to-day. A few pens of fat were all that we e disposed of. Sheep arc more inquired for the bulk of those offering finding purchasers at the quotations below. A large entry of rams came forward to-day, the competition being keen for any really good animals. I placed about two-lhirds of the entry. The balance will he sold during next month. The averages were —Canterbury rams, £5 6s; Australian Land Company, £4 17s ; the executors of the late Mrs Hair, £2 13s ; Messrs W. and D. Blair, £1 14s 6d ; Mr T. Bryce, £1 19 s. ' , , Cattle. —At Hawera 375 head were sold—3-year-old bullocks, £3 18s ; cows and calves, £3 to £3 55.; heifers, £2 10s. At St Hill-street—Fat bullocks, £5 7s 6d to £7. Sheep.— At Waverley 2250 were sold —Fat owes and wethers, 9s ; lambs in wool, 5s to 5s 3d. At Hawera 800 were sold—Shorn lambs, 4s. At Hill-street 1200 were penned—Fat ewes, 8s 9d to 9s ; store wethers, 8s 6d. Horses. —No alteration in values. Pxgs.—Small porkers, 5s to Bs. Exports.— 4o cattle and 500 sheep.
