PROGRAMME, Handicap Hurdle Race, of 40 sovs; 2 miles ; over 8 flights of hurdles, 3ft 9in ; top weight not to exceed 12 stone, lowest not under 9 stone. Nomination 2 sovs, acceptance 2 sovs. To start at 11-30 o’clock Hack Hurdles, of 10 sovs; entrance, 1 sov; post entry ; once round and a distance ; weight not to be under 9 stone; open to all horses that' have never won an advertised race ; hack races excepted. To start at 12 o’clock noon Flying Handicap, of 40 sovs ; Jof a mile ; top weight not to exceed 10 stone; nomination 1 sov, acceptance 2 sovs. To start at 1 o’clock Hack Race, for horses that have never won public money or been nominated for an advertised race, six months previous to date of meeting ; hack races excepted. To start at 1-30 o’clock Sapling Stakes, of 30 sovs; for 2-year-olds ; entrance 2 sovs ; six furlongs; Derby \yeights; the winner of any race after date of entry to carry a penalty of 51bs, To start at 2 o’clock Autumn Handicap, of 125 sovs; second horse tcKreceive 25 sovs out of the stakes; nomination 2 sovs; acceptance 5 sovs ; If miles; winner of any race of the value of 100 sovs after declaration of . weights to carry a penalty of 71bs; top weight not to exceed 10 stone. To , start at 3 o’clock Official’s Race. _ To start at 3-30 o’clock Maiden Plate, of 30 sovs"'; 1£- miles; ■weight for age entrance 2 sovs ; open to all horses that have never won public money prior to date of entry; any horse entered for Maiden Plate winning an advertised race between the time of entry and date of race to carry a penalty of olbs. To start at 4 o’clock Hack Race, as above 1 To start at 4-30 Forced Handicap, of 25 sovs ; once round the course; entrance, winning horses 1 sov ; losing horses 10s. To start at 5 o’clock RULES. No entry will be received for any race except upon this condition —that all disputes, claims, and objections arising out of the racing shall be decided by a majority of the Stewards present, or those whom they may appoint. Their decision upon all points connected with the carrying out of this programme shall be final. All entries to be sealed and addressed to the Hon Secretary, Box No 12, Waverley ; entrance money enclosed (exchange must be added to cheques), with the name, age at time of entry, pedigree, and, in case of handicaps, the,, performances of the horse, name of the owner, and colours of the rider. Any jockey riding except in colours entered will be fined 3 sovs. When two or more horses start, the property of the same owner, a distinguishing colour must be worn. In all weight-for-age races the newweight-for-age scale will be adhered to. All persons intending to withdraw horses are required to give notice to that effect to the Secretary or Clerk of the. Scales one half-hour before starting. ' Any person neglecting or refusing to comply with this rule shall pay a fine of 5 sovs to the rßefund. All races to be run under the W.J.C, Rules. Horses walking ovei will only receive half the stakes. Qualification fee for non-members, 1 sov. In all races the second horse only saves his stake when it is especially stated that he does so. No entries or nominations will be received under any pretence whatever after the specified time for closing. Letters bearing the postmark of the date of entry, and telegrams of the same date will be received. Nominations for Handicap Hurdles, Flying Handicap, Autumn Handicap, and Guineas will close at Ballam’s Commercial Hotel on the 241h; February, 1883 at 10 o’clock a.m. Weights declared on the 2nd March, Acceptances and general entries close at 10 o’clock a.m., on the 6th March, 1883, at Ballam’s Commercial Hotel . Wayeelby and Waitotaea Guineas, 9th November, 1883—for 3-year-olds, to be nominated as 2-year-olds, of 105 sovs, with a sweepstake of 3 guineas at the post for starters, to go to second horse ; 1>- miles ; colts Bst lOlbs, fillies and geldings Bst slbs ; nomination 2 sovs ; acceptance 4 sovs..
