. [to THE AGE.] LONDON, Feb. 5. Great animosity is expressed in Ireland against Mr Harcourt, Secretary ot State, in consequence of his refusing to reprieve some prisoners recently convicted for being concerned in a murderous outrage in that County. In consequence of threats indulged in, it has been deemed desirable to take special measures for his protection from the vengeance of the Fenian organisation. Constables have been therefore told m special duty, guarding him attack. Cafint De Chambord, whose claim to the French throne is supported by the Legitimist party, has not been in good health for some time past, and is now suffering from an attack of quinsy. It is understood that Mr Parnell will shortly visit America in his capacity as President of the Irish National League. He is to be present at a grand Convention of the American- Branch Leagues, to be held in March. It is understood that two prominent members of the Irish Nationalist party, Dillon and Gill, who respectively represent the Counties of Tipperary and West Meath, will resign their seats in the House |of Commons shortly.

Australians then went in for .first innings, andat mid-day adjournment bad lost 3 wickets for 58, Bannerman caught 10, Murdoch bowled nil; Horan caught 4; Bonnor not out 31, Giffen not out 8, extras 5, total 48.
