A CONTRADICTION.

TO THE EDITOR. Sin, —In jour report of the meeting of B. Cnllinan’s creditors on the 6th inst, Mr Cullinan states that at the lime we commenced business under the name of McKenna and Cullinan ho had £9B of his own money and that I had only £5. I don’t believe it is necessary for me to contradict this statement as the public know that Mr Cullinan is not quite so soft as he pretended to be when ho made the statement to his creditors. I should like to know was ho on oath when he was examined, as if he was he swore what he knew to be false and which I can prove. As to the £l2O that Mr Cullinan paid me for my share in the business, I fail to see how ho acted wrongly ns the books will show that there was more than double that amount owing to ns and the liabilities at the time were very little. Again, when I asked him how much he would take for his share in the business, he wanted the modest sum of £260. As to my weakening Mr Cullinan when we were in partnership, this could not be, as I was the only one that had any experience of the business, Mr Cullinan having no knowledge of the business previous to his going in partnership with me, which events since tend to confirm. I knew him to bo working on farms before joining in business with me. If Mr Cullinan said that after dissolving partnership I weakened his business, the statement would be quite true, and the public would be more likely to believe it than what he did state. Apologising for trespassing on so much of your valuable space (but I could not in justice to myself allow such false statements to go uncontradictcd). — Yours, &c., J. A. McKenna.
