Sir,—With reference to a resolution carried at a meeting of m3 7 constituents at Patea on the 14th October last, requesting me to meet them at an early date, and appointing a committee to wait upon me and see what support the Government will give towards improving the river, and whether they would support the reconstruction of the Harbour Board, I regret to say that I am still unable to fix a date whereon to invite ray constituents to meet mo, but I expect to be in Patea about the 12th or 13th prox., when I shall be happ} 7 to confer with the committee or others respecting any matters demanding attention. With regard to the Harbour works I may say I shall continue to be found in the future, as I have been in the past, always ready to do all in my power to aid in the carrying out of a work of such importance.
