THE CIRCUS.
Messrs Wcfodyear and Ross’s Royal Australian Girons; after ‘ performing at W averley on. Thursday evening to a large, audience, opened here on Friday evening, when the' big marquee was well filled. The circus was pitched on the vacant ground adjoining the Courthouse and the playing of the band outside .atirac ted nearly -al Uthe tow n s people.4 othe place! In a smaller tent was a side show, in which were an armless lady, iady, who was born armless, writes, eno s,- ’■•and * fe and fork with as much ease as could be .done, with, the . hands. // The circus company, though hot a large one, consists of a number. of clevgr members, who exhibit themselves in;a marvellous manner as equestrians and acrobats.; Signor Bartolo,-professionally termed the serpent, doubled himself up in* the most remarkable manner, suggesting to the spectator that he must have been boneless. The wire-walker; showed gepat nerve and power.in baknc mg, arid the 'performances on the trapeze and horizontal bar were done with a skill and grace which excited astonishment. The tumbling and other acrobatic feats by members of the company were decidedly clever, and the grotesque make-nip and aptics ; .ofi the, clowns kept the audience in a cheerful mood.
