Bridge, J.P., having been requested to attend tbc meeting, administered the usual oath, and a large majority of tho troop were sworn in, A special meeting of the Wairoa Highway Board was held oh Saturday last, when it was resolved to 'call for tenders for the Karihaka Bridge by next ordinary meeting. A letter was also read from the chairman of a public meeting held at Kakaramea, enclosing copies of resolutions re suspending the Counties Act in the Fatea County, and requesting the Wairoa Highway Board to take the necessary steps to ventilate the matter in this district. As only three of the members were present, it was resolved to let the matter stand over till first ordinary meet-
