WATER FOR HAWERA.

The Haw era people are going in for a water supply. At the Borough Council meet* ing on Wednesday the following was carried “ That steps be taken to provide the town with a water supply, and sewage drainage, the cost of such scheme to be paid out of the £1,500 of the loan allocated to water supply and drainage ; that a competent engineer be consulted as to the best method for the Council to proceed to obtain a water and drainage scheme, and that a report be obtaineeffrom such engineer.” The Inspector also reported that at next meeting he should submit a scheme for water supply, pure in quality but not of unlimited quantity, but with a storage capacity of 12,000 or 15,000 gallons which can he constantly replenished. If for no other purposes, the same could be utilised for the purpose of extinguishing fire or watering the strcets < The whole cost would not exceed £250.
