o (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, Dec. 26. A man named John Horton was caught in a circular saw machine at the Mercury Bay sawmill. One leg was severed from his body, and amputation of the other leg was necessary. In an altercation at Flagstaff Hotel, North Shore, between John Johnston, Lake Takapuna, and Edward Scotter, blacksmith, the former, after a few rounds, drew his knife and inflicted a severe wound in th<* abdomen of Scotter, then leaped on his horse and galloped off. Constable Hutchinson subsequently captured him. GKEYMOUTH, Dec. 25. A lad named Cox, aged 16 years, has been drowned through the capsizing of a boat on the river.
