The appointment of Mr William Lupton Deane as Deputy of Births, Deaths, and Marriages for'Patea, is gazetted. A correspondent writing from Te Awamntu, in the Waikato states :—The cheese and bacon factory is taking immensely with the settlers, paying better than butter making at heme, and relieving the family of much of the drudgery entailed by dairying. The quantity of .milk sent into the factory isnow close upon 500 gallons daily.
