Mr Turner, the police magistrate at Port Adelade, has established an important departure' from the existing law practice. He declines to hear cross-information, as he considers them legal fictions to secure evidence for the originaldefendants, as they have been hitherto heard together with the original informations, and he considers the provision made for taking evidence on' the defendant’s oath has rendered cross-informations unnecessary.
