The Bishop of Winchester and the Bishop of Durham are each mentioned as likely to succeed the late Dr Tait in the Archiepiscopal See of Canterbury, Judge O’Brien, in his opening at the Assizes, referred principally to the crimes committed quite recently, and said the effect would be ruinous to Dublin. Arabi Pasha, in a letter to the Times, cheerfully refers to the sentence passed upon him, and states that he is conscious that the English Government will complete the reforms in Egypt which he commenced.
