(per press association.) AUCKLAND, Oct. 30. It is slated tnat Mr J. E.-McDonald, District Judge and R.M. here, lias been offered and has accepted the Chief Judgeship in the Native Land Court. Mr Long, senior, one of the victims in the Pokeno tragedy, has so far recovered as to be able to walk about the house. CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 30. In the Divorce Court to-day, in the rase Long v. Long and Stokes, the Judge granted a decree' nisi, with no costs. TIMARU, Oct. 30. Captain White, sailraaker, an old resident, died suddenly in the R.M. Court today, from apoplexy. DUNEDIN, Oct. 29th. At a meeting of the Railway Enginedrivers and Firemen’s Association the following resolution was carried :—“That if any -locomotive emploj'e get dismissed through being a member of, or taking an active part in the association branch of which such employe is a member, the members upon being convinced of this at once take immediate action to stay off work.” INVERCARGILL, Oct. 80. George Brown, farmer, was killed by a fall from a dray, through the horse stumbling.
