The Homeward mails, via San Francisco, which left Auckland on the 12th September, were delivered here to-day, being three days in advance of contract time. Consols have advanced 4., and are quoted to-day at 101^-. The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain has decreased by 50,000 quarters during the week, and is now 1,830,000 quarters. (Received October 22, 7,40 p.m.) ALEXANDRIA, Oct. 19. The scheme for the reorganisation of the Egyptian army which has been drawn up by Baker Pasha has been finally approved of by the Egyptian Government. It has been agreed by the Egyptian Government that Arabi and his associates shall all be allowed the services of English counsel on their trial, which will be accordingly commenced forthwith. ALEXANDRIA, Oct. 20. An English counsel is engaged to defend Arabi on his trial, and has visited him in prison at Cairo for the purpose of preparing the defence.
