Friday, before C. A, Wray, Esq., R.M. Charles Sharpe was fined 5s and costs for leaving his express in Egmont street without a chain to lock the wheel. He did not appear. W. Balmforth was charged with allowing a chimney at the Central Hotel to take fire on the 24th. Defendant said that, having lately taken the hotel, he did not know the chimney was foul. Fined Is and costs. John Mercer and a foreigner named Hendiman were each fined 20s and 14s costs for driving furiously in Egmont street last Sunday. Hogan v. Lawler Brothers was a civil claim of 10s for butter supplied. Case adjourned.
