CARDINAL MANNING AND THE SALVATION ARMY.
Cardinal. Manning, speaking at a meeting of the Society of St. Vincent of Paul, at his residence, Westminster, strongly deprecated the religious excitement occasioned by, snch organisations as the Salvation Army and the Blue Ribbon Army. Whilst he admitied that a great deal of fervour and enthusiasm was developed by such agencies, he feared they too often led to unfortunate results. He earnestly exhorted the ' members of the society, in their labors among the poor to endeavor to dissuade them by being led away by such excitement.
