Thames.—A hundred men of the late rifle contingent, disgusted at not getting two months’ pay for their short outing to Parihaka, burnt Mr Bryce in effigy on Saturday night, in the presence of 2,000 people. The figure was fixed on a white horse, a la Pariholca ; the band played the Dead March through the town; and then the figure was set on fire. The police did not interfere. Water Pipes.
