Tho Harbor Board met on Monday ; Mr Coutts iu the chair, and all the members present. POWER OF LEASING. Major Atkinson telegraphed to the Harbor Board for particulars of the reserves given as security for the loan of £IO,OOO, which reserves they desired to be permanently vested in the Board with power of leasing. The information has been sent accordingly. COAL DEPOT. The Patea S.S. Company had applied for permission to lease a small portion of the new wharf for storing coal foist earner’s use. The Board decided that it has no power to lease a portion of wharf for such a purpose. TAKING GRAVEL, Permission was given to the District Engineer to remove 40 lons of gravel from the river bed above the bridge, or from tho beach, for making concrete. ROAD TO SECTIONS. A letter from Mr G. Qanc asked that the road be made passable to his section on the foreshore between the two bridges. Chairman said there is a written promise that the Government would make the road. Resolved to call attention to the #nise. PILOT’S RESIGNATION. The Chairman had accepted the pilot’s resignation, and called for applications. The Board endorsed his action, and also resolved to invite Mr Wood to remain till the end of September, and give assistance and information to his successor. Mr Wood has consented to do so. PILOT’S COMPENSATION, Mr Wood had written asking compensation for improvements made to property at the heads. His letter did not specify what improvements, and it was ordered to lie on the table. PILOT APPLICATIONS. Seven applications were received for the office of pilot and harbor-master as follow : George Calvert, Normanby ; Lewis Patterson, New Plymouth ; Philip Jenkins, Wellington ; A. T. Fraser, Wanganui ; John M’Laren, lately pilot at Wanganui ; John Flowerday, lately of the St. Kilda, Wanganui ; and J. W. Winslade, Wanganui. Tho various testimonials were read in committee, and the Board agreed to appoint Captain Flowerday. ACCOUNTS, &C. Accounts were passed for payment, amounting to £37 7s lOd. The wharfinger’s and pilot’s reports were adopted, and the Board ahjourned;
