Sporting. In all weight-for-agc races the new weight-for-age scale will be adhered to. All persons intending to withdraw horses arc required to give notice to that effect to the Secretary or Clerk of the Seales one halfhour before starting. Sire,’ Mr Kettle’s imported horse Sir William Wallace. Sm William Wallace is a beautiful dark bay with black points, and was foaled January 7th, 1872. For symmetry, strength, and action he stands unrivalled He is perfectly quiet, docile, and tractable. No horse approaches him in quality and quantity of bone, muscle, and hair. He is a sure foal-geltcr, and his stock are turning out first-class. Ho has taken the Champion Prize in Wanganui two years in succession, viz., in 1878 and 1879. For pedigree and further particulars, see large cards. Fee, single mares at £4 10s ; reduction made for two or more mares. Groomage fee, 2s 6d, to be paid when the mare is served. To Stand this season, at KAKARAMEA, the well-known Race Horse H AILSTORM. He is a rich roan ; stands 15 hands inches high ; has a fine temper ; and for symmetry and power cannot be surpassed. He has been in the show yard twice, and taken first prize each time. Hailstorm is closely related to many of tire best horses that have ever raced in New Zealand, viz., Trump Card, Tambourini, Danebury. Orlando, Ncbuhe, Resolution, Queen of the Vale, and .Satellite. These are all horses that won many of the best weight-for-age races and many of the largest handicaps carrying often top weight. Hailstorm’s own performance on the turf for consistent running is unequalled by any horse in New Zealand. He has started twenty-seven times and won sixteen races, second five times, third twice, unplaced four times. As a three-year-old lie won Welter race at Patca and Forced Handicap and Maiden Plate at Napier. As a four-year ho won Carlyle Cup. 2 miles, and J.C. Handicap, 2 miles, 7st 41b ; Wanganui Stakes Handicap, 2.J- miles, Bst 51b ; Wavcrley-Waitotara Cup, 2 miles, weight for age, and Handicap, 2 miles, Bst 121b ; Taranaki Cup, 2 miles, weight for ago, and Welter race, 11 m., weight for age. As a live-year-old he won the Wanganui Stakes Handicap, 2| miles, list lib, and Railway Plate, l-J miles, weight for age, and the Railway Handicap at Patca, V 2 miles, fist 71b. As a six-year-old he won the Railway Plate at Waitara and the Wanganui Cup Handicap, 2\ miles, 7st 81b. His performance at the Wanganui Spring Meeting, winning the Handicap with fist 41b, and immediately after, against fresh horses, winning the Railway Plate with fist 31b, in 2min. 4(3sec., proves him to be, for speed, endurance, and weight-carrying, a horse that has few equals. His four-year-old running at Waverley was equally good, winning the Cup, weight for age, 2 miles, and Handicap, with top weight, Bst 121b, 2 miles, against fresh horses. In the Wanganui Cup he heat three of the fastest and best horses on the turf at the present day. Terms —£o 10s each mare, and 5s the groom. Good paddocks for mares, free for one month ; 2s a week will be charged for each mare after that time. Every mare must bo removed and paid for by December Ist, when the season will dose.
