Second Edition ADOPTING A CHILD.

Respecting the squabble for possession of a child belonging to an inmate of Patea Hospital, wo are requested by Mr Leslie Charles to state that the child was being removed to Wanganui by his wish and under his written authority, when it was forcibly dragged from the possession of Mr Goldsmid, at Wanganui station, by Mrs Sparks, of Patea. Mr Charles also says that the child’s mother is, in his opinion, the only proper guardian for the child at present, and that any imputations on her character while in Wanganui are cruel and unfounded. He says tbe boy has not been legally adopted by Mr Sparks. It should be stated on the other haad, that the boy is now with Mr and Mrs Sparks, who are much attached to him. There is a prospect that the parties may agree amicably to have the boy legally adopted.
