(Reuters Telegram,') OPERATIONS ON THE CANALRETREAT OF ARABI. BURNING VILLAGES SHOOTING PILLAGERS. (AGE specials.) London, 23rd.— The rabble and camp followers congregated at Krafradowar are now retiring thence into the interior, their retreat being marked by the villages they are burning as they pass. The enemy is in strong force at Menalletrel Keber, to the north east of Tantah. An advance guard of 3000 men occupied an entrenched position near Ismalia. Two vessels laden with Turkish troops have left Rhodes, steaming in a southwesterly direction. The Nile is inundulaling the surrounding country. Rio Pasha has been appointed Minister of the Interior, London, 24th.—Ail the positions hold by Arabi’s forces between Suez and Ismalia have now been evacuated, and the enemy has retreated in a zig-zag and disorderly manner. The fresh water supply to the places along the canal and to Alexandria are found co be sufficient for all requirements. The deserters coming in from the enemy are very numerous. Thousands appear to have been intimidated into joining Arabi (ARGUS SPECIALS). London, 24th, —The forces encamped at Menalletrel Keber number 2500 men and 60 guns. Ten Greek pillagers have been shot at Ismalia. The Governor and troops at Soudan have declared in favor of the Khedive. p. FROZEN MEAT from WELLINGTON, (Press Assn. Telegram.) Wellington, 25th.—At the first annual meeting of the Wellington Meat Export Company, the report stated that the reason of the delay in getting machinery was that various experiments are still being made at Home, and it was considered advisable to await the result of these before hastily adopting a machine which in actual working might turn out to be unsatisfactory. The directors reported that the ship Lady Jocelyn, fitted with refrigerating machinery, had been secured to load at this port with 277 tons of meat and 25 tons of dairy produce during the months of January and February next. Efforts were also being made to obtain other vessels.
