LONDON SEED TRADE-

Messrs John Shaw and Sons, London report that there was no business of importance passing in the seed market during the month ending July 13th. American letters continued to speak very gravely of the prospects of red clover seed there, and more particularly so in the important State of Michigan, where the result, it is feared, will prove only one-fifth of a crop. This, coupled with the unusually small stocks in the market, has caused quotations all round to exhibit extreme firmness. There was no change in either mustard or rape seed, but new home-grown samples of the latter were being offered. Canary seed was firm at the late advance.
