Damage for Sheep Worrying.

The case of H. I. DaVis against A. J, Redgrave was decided in the R.M. Court late on Friday afternoon, Mr Tennent and Mr Christie being the presiding justices. The plaintiff claimed L 8 16s for 11 ewes (in lamb) worried, and L 5 for damage to 42 ewes. His case had closed with the previous part of our re-

port. For the defence, Mr Redgrave gave hist version of what Mr Davis said to him, and Mr J. Lett was called as an expert to speak to the value of the sheep as being much less than was stated on the other side. Some amusing questions were put to him in cross-examination as an expert judge of sheep, and his replies were lively. Sergeant Donovan also gave evidence as to what Mr Davis told him.

The Magistrates gave a verdict for the L 5 claimed as damages for bunting the sheep, and costs. They appeared to consider the actual worrying of any sheep not proved.
