Wellington, 7th.—The Sheriff of Auckland has telegraphed to the Minister of Justice denying that-there was any bungling in connection with Winiata’s execution. He states that unconsciousness immediately followed the drop, which was eight feet, and the apparent stilled breathings of Winiata were merely the escape of air from the chest.
